Axhill Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I have created a document (35 pages) and want to export it as a PDF. At "Open Preflight" I get the error message "Missing font, AppleSystenUIFont > FIX" Unfortunately I am unable to solve this. A substitute font doesn't help either. Now I can't export a PDF and I really need one. Please advise what to do. Quote Don't believe everything you think
Dan C Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Hi @Axhill, Sorry to hear you're having trouble! This certainly isn't something I've heard happening before, so I'm going to require a copy of your document to investigate this further. Can you please upload a copy of this document to the following link for me? https://www.dropbox.com/request/sL9R9vJg7OejbwxXDjiF Once uploaded, please reply here to let me know. Many thanks in advance! Quote
Axhill Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 Uploaded just right away. I do not have problems with exporting with older or newer documents in Affintiy Piblisher!!! Quote Don't believe everything you think
Dan C Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Many thanks for your document! I have found the text frame that's causing this issue, unfortunately I'm not sure how this happened, but we can at least get things put right for you Please navigate to Page 7, you should see there is an empty text frame in the Layers Studio on this page, this is the text frame that is using 'AppleSystemUIFont'. However, although this frame shows as being part of 'Page 7', it's actually located over page 13, which you can see be zooming out - Please delete the Text Frame from 'Page 7', then try exporting to PDF once again, you should find you no longer see the error. I hope this helps! Quote
Axhill Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 I have removed the empty text frame on pag 7. This was no solution. Then I checked all the other pages and found on pag 4, 22 and 24 an empty text frame too. All these text frames I have deleted. I saved the document and try to export. Nope... the problem still remains. Exporting to PDF was not possible. Should I upload the file again to you? It would be great if you could solve the problem, because I am close to the deadline! Otherwise I have to start all over again and that means little sleep... Quote Don't believe everything you think
Dan C Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I'm sorry to hear this. 8 minutes ago, Axhill said: Then I checked all the other pages and found on pag 4, 22 and 24 an empty text frame too. All these text frames I have deleted. None of these text frames had the 'AppleSystemUIFont' set as the font in use, so none of these should have caused an issue with Preflight, unless these other fonts were also missing for you. 8 minutes ago, Axhill said: Exporting to PDF was not possible I'm able to export your document to PDF without issue (although of course missing your linked images), can you please provide a screen recording or series of screenshots showing the steps you're taking to export a PDF? Even with all fonts and images missing, it should always be possible to force Affinity to export the document. Quote
Axhill Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 OK, here are 4 screenshots. The checks of spelling mistake are clear, because the used language is dutch. Quote Don't believe everything you think
Old Bruce Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 What happens if you ignore the Preflight Warnings? Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Dan C Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Thanks for your screenshots! Could you please follow the below FAQ for PDFlib logging on Mac to generate the log - And then upload a copy of this here? Many thanks once again Quote
Axhill Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 Sorry but I am not very familiar with Terminal. After typing the command line, do I have to confirm with the Return key? Do I have to close Terminal afterwards? What is the "yourusername"? Do you mean my login name or the name of the home folder? Afterwards: In Affinity, of course, I have to use the file with the problems. Then export to PDF, that is not possible and then I click on "Ignore and continue"? Do I have to stop Affinity then? Then when I restart Terminal and type the command line, should I confirm it again with Return? Quote Don't believe everything you think
Axhill Posted November 7, 2020 Author Posted November 7, 2020 Well, I understand that it cannot be fixed over the weekend and since I have to submit the file in the next week, I will start all over again. Still, I would like to know what went wrong with the original file. Quote Don't believe everything you think
Axhill Posted November 7, 2020 Author Posted November 7, 2020 Looks like I found the problem. Font used on the first page (Kosmik) seems to be corrupt. After replacing this font with another one, I was able to export the file to PDF. I did get an error because of "Spelling Mistakes", but clicked "Ignore and continue" and then the PDF was created. So, my weekend could be still useful. Anyway, thanks for your support! Quote Don't believe everything you think
Axhill Posted November 7, 2020 Author Posted November 7, 2020 A remark on the spelling checker and Preflight. Because the language used is not English, Preflight contains a huge series of "Spelling mistakes". Then it is difficult to search for an error that is important. Please note that I turn off the spelling checker. Can't that be changed? Quote Don't believe everything you think
walt.farrell Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 2 minutes ago, Axhill said: Please note that I turn off the spelling checker. Your screenshot shows you turning off Auto-Correction. That is different from, and does not affect spell checking. You would specify the Spelling Language for your text using the Character panel, or the Language options in the Paragraph Style or Character Style you're using for that text. Or, to turn off those Preflight warnings you would edit your Preflight profile using the hamburger menu in the Preflight panel and choosing Edit Profile, then disable the spellchecking part of the Preflight process: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
