Nick Vinogradov
Was working on a two projects in Affinity Photo yesterday .Today I can’t open this files . Getting “loading failed, Unable to load document” error. Tried to reopen app, restart IPad ,duplicate file and open a copy - nothing helps. Also when I try to drag and drop file to IPad filesystem - import just freezes and nothing is happening. When trying to press the file icon and press “save” app is crashing. Is there any solution for this ? I can’t work on anything in Affinity if I can loose my projects so easy. If you previously saved the file there should be a file version xxx.afphoto in the default save folder on iPad or iCloud. Can you open that? If you didn’t save, then the file exists only in the apps 'sandbox' and if corrupted you may be out of luck. Always pays to save externally to a folder so that you have a working backup. Maybe mods can advise further as to what your options are. If you do have an actual file, and it won’t open, you can send it to mods to see what is wrong with it. Hope you get it sorted. Note if you started your file on the current beta, you cannot open it on the current release version (just in case that is what you are trying to do). 🙂 Gabe 1 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Staff Gabe Posted November 5, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 5, 2020 Hi @Nick Vinogradov, welcome to the forums. If what DM1 suggested fails, you can try this: Download iMazing (Commercial application for Mac, but the free trial is only needed, unfortunately i'm not aware of any Windows applications) Connect your iPad to your Mac Make a backup of the iPad through iMazing In the top right click the iPad's name and select the backup Inside the Apps > Affinity Photo folder > Library > Application Support > com.seriflabs.affinityphoto.ios > Drag the Autosave folder to the desktop (iMazing trial allows 10 drag operations, so dragging the folder will get all files exported at once) Renamed from .autosave to .afphoto and check through these files.
