Emma1
Hello, So the colours in my text boxes that I add and save (a pale pink) keep disappearing. I have been working on this document for some time now and last night all looked fine & work was saved. Logged back in again this morning however, and all the text boxes (on multiple pages) have gone white. This has happened now several times over the last few weeks (last night however the colours all suddenly reappeared without me doing anything). You can see in the highlighted layers section that the pink (well it's showing as more of a purple but it is pink with opacity turned down) is in there, but it won't show. How can I easily view the colour again throughout multiple pages in these text boxes please? Any help much appreciated! Thank you :)
walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Possibly I'm confused, but your screenshot in the post shows many pink boxes, including the layer that's currently selected. If you don't see them, perhaps you're having a monitor problem? Emma1
Thanks for your reply Walt. How strange, you see all the boxes on there as pink? To me they are all showing white! Any idea what I might be able to do to check my monitor & fix it if that's the problem? I'm on a MacBook Pro. Also, why is the hex code box surround in red pls? You may have your contrast set too high so the light pink is showing as white The red outline is maybe your highlight colour for that selected input field. Emma1
The contrast is set at 'normal' and won't go down any further, see screenshot below. When I increase it, the boxes just go whiter. Any other ideas pls? The red outline box won't let me input a different hex code.

Staff Patrick Connor Posted November 4, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 4, 2020 Yeah this is pink for me Does it occur to you that the difference between when you can see it and when you cannot could be something like a power saving mode when not plugged in? Emma1
Good idea thanks but am at 100% plugged in at the moment. Any idea which colour profile to select that's compatible with Affinity Publisher?
Staff Patrick Connor Posted November 4, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 4, 2020 If you can see it sometimes and not others and you have never changed the profile then it's probably not that, but perhaps someone else can suggest a normal one for your model, what macbook Pro is it by the way? Emma1
It's the 15 inch 2017. It is mostly white but very occasionally pink like it should be. Would it be anything to do that it's from a global colour do you think?

Staff Patrick Connor Posted November 4, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 4, 2020 Apparently Macs do adjust brightness automatically but this can be turned off in macOS Preferences, Display settings. Emma1
So I've turned that off, still doesn't make a difference. What a puzzle hey! A frustrating one but appreciate your replies
Emma1
The pink colour has now returned and I can now see pink in all the above screenshots and in Affinity Publisher as well. Have not altered anything though, so strange. I bet it will go back to white tomorrow again! Be good to know what's causing this though if anyone still has any ideas! Staff Patrick Connor Posted November 4, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 4, 2020 Your screen is doing some background (room) brightness colour compensation is my best guess Quote Patrick Connor Serif Europe Ltd Latest V2 releases on each platform Help make our apps better by joining our beta program! BofG
I'd investigate the "Night Shift" setting.
Staff MEB Posted November 4, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 4, 2020 Night Shift makes the colours warmer or cooler depending on the hours but i don't believe it's causing this. I have it turned ON and although it shifts the colors a bit i can still clearly see the pink in the screenshots above if I turn it off. That probably will remove everything from the list besides the Color LCD you say you are using, but if it does not, try whatever is left to see if anything changes. Emma1
Thanks everyone for your replies. It was the night shift setting affecting it! Old Bruce and Patrick Connor 1
