franco_al07
Followed this tutorial step by step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmNiU_gqiWo I'm trying to make the stars the same color as the white square. Thanks for any answer
GarryP
Welcome to the forums @franco_al07 I think my first question would be, do you want to: A. have some star shapes coloured as you want them, or B. recolour those particular star images? There will be lots of ways to do what you want but we need to know precicely precisely what you want to achieve. Edited November 5, 2020 by GarryP Oops. Spelling mistake. franco_al07

AffinityJules
But seriously... Just make the star shapes the colour that you want them to be when you create them. franco_al07 1 Quote Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. The OP seems to be using an image of star shapes, but creating my own vector shapes and making them the colour that I want is exactly how I would tackle this. franco_al07 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Old Bruce
Hi @franco_al07 Welcome to the forums. If the star is a png (transparency is required for this to work) then you can use it to clip a white Rectangle. Both stars are Black coloured PNGs. franco_al07 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear. franco_al07
Hi everyone! Thanks for the quick replies. Problem solved! As you can see, I'm new to affinity and photo editing in general. I haven't edited photos aside from the filtering stuff (Luminar) in years so I appreciate the response. Seems like affinity has a nice community here. Glad I picked this software over the other one where I have to pay >$100 yearly Dan C and Alfred
Alfred
Although the Star Tool and the Diamond Tool look like ideal starting points for creating those four-sided stars, you may find it tricky (if not impossible!) to get the curvature right. Use the Polygon Tool to create a diamond shape with straight sides, and then set the curvature to -100% via the ‘Curve’ control on the Context toolbar. thatGuy
I personally like the cog tool better for this, it's a bit more flexible with curvature even for flower-like shapes and stuff like that
