Gavin Anthony Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but after importing a PDF and trying to edit text, or even creating a new text box in the imported document, when right justified, the first letter of the word stays on the left side of the box, with the rest of the word on the other side of the box. I am using previously used paragraph styles, so have no idea why this is suddenly happening. It happens with some styles but not others. But again, these are previously used styles in other documents and I have only had problems with this imported PDF. Help gratefully received!! See example below: Quote
SPaceBar Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Hi @Gavin Anthony Thanks for sharing this issue. Would you be able to upload a document where this issue is happening? I'd like to take a closer look to see what is going on. Quote

Old Bruce Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 There are a bunch of overrides on the style, I have highlighted what may be causing the problem. Your Paragraph Style is set to use Justify Left. Gavin Anthony Posted November 4, 2020 Author Posted November 4, 2020 Thanks!—but any idea why these styles would suddenly change in this particularly file--when my other files do not have this issue?! Quote
garrettm30 Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 It seems to me that the issue is with drop caps that are enabled on paragraphs that align other than on the left. (It may not be obvious that drop caps are turned on, since they are also configured to be only one line tall.) I was able to test by making this simple document. I enabled drop caps and and right alignment, and I got similar results. drop_caps_right_alignment.afpub So @Gavin Anthony, to take the introduction title on page i as an example, edit the text style Index Title so that drop caps are explicitly turned off, and it will solve the problem for that page. Do similarly to other styles that are affected, such as Side Boxes Left, and that should clear up the issue. Now for Serif: I have never thought to use drop caps on paragraphs that do not line up on the left. Is the current behavior intended? Could it or should it be improved? walt.farrell 1 Quote

I would say that it is because of this: On 11/3/2020 at 10:52 AM, Gavin Anthony said: after importing a PDF PDFs can do weird things when imported. I think you have to also take into account what application made the PDF, so many paths to having bad things happen.
