I don't know about the desktop version but my AMD HD 7970m supports only directx 12 lev 11.1

I've checked (and updated the original post), unfortunately the first supported AMD chip was the 7790 (GCN 2nd gen). Your 7970 is GCN 1st gen.

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but within the latest beta of AD and AP I'm unable to activate Hardware acceleration. Mods can move it to the right place if needed.

I'm on Win 10 Home Build 18363 and latest Nvidia driver on a RTX 2070 SUPER.

Hi jc4d, have you tried to update your Windows?
I had the same problem and an update fixed it. Notice how your version is below the minimum.
If Windows Update doesn't offer you an update, you can use the Update Assistant to force it.
Details here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/get-the-windows-10-october-2020-update-7d20e88c-0568-483a-37bc-c3885390d212

As the message says, your system does not meet the current specs to use the hardware acceleration function in Affinity Photo. You'll need to update your Windows to one of the 2020 updates. Windows Update should be able to do that for you.

No; it's too old, and doesn't support DirectX 12 and other required functions.

Okay thank you !
I'm currently running Dx12 on that same config which came after I did my updates so it's not so bad but I noticed that AfPhoto works better (less lags) and even faster when I use the WARP setting so, i'm kind of fine right now even if the release prior to the b.852 was much much reactive and better in terms of resource usage but ... that another story.

BTW my card/gpu is a switchable one intel+amd to be more precise.

Blessings
