Catrin
I can't seem to be able to split text in Affinity Designer? From what I can gather it's only shapes that can be divided? Is there a way this can be achieved? I've attached an example that I had to call my boyfriend and ask him to do this on Adobe Illustrator for me as I couldn't achieve this design like I was hoping to on Affinity. Is there any sign that this could be a feature in the near future?
Joachim_L
Should the text be editable? I doubt this will work even in Illustrator. I tried it, because I was curious and you can do this even in AD. Of course there will be better ways, but I am no AD expert at all. 1) Convert the text to curves and ungroup it. 2) Draw and rotate a rectangle with no stroke and fill colour of the text, where the split has to be. 3) Expand stroke of the rectangle. 4) Select all layers and use Divide on it. 5) Tidy up the produced layers. Old Bruce
Duplicate the text, offset it and then mask the layers. Catrin
Thank you both for those suggestions! Joachim_L - When I tried to do the divide with a line from the pen tool instead of a shape, and the text that I'd converted to curves, it just kept filling the inside of the O and P and not actually splitting any of the text like I needed it to. I'll have to try with the rectangle! Old Bruce - With the masking layers method, how have you cropped it on a diagonal? It's confused me a little looking at the image. I only rotated the Rectangles because you have the slice at an angle. chop.afdesign Alfred and Catrin 2 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.
