markw
Curious, why dose the App Registration think I’m using a 2010 Macbook Pro when it’s actually from 2017? The same thing happens with the Publisher beta too. macOS 10.15.7 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M

Hi markw, Could you run the following command in Terminal and attach a screenshot of the results, along with a screenshot of the About This Mac dialog. I would advise you blank out the start of your Serial Number as well, but if possible could you leave the last 4 characters visible? Also have you previously owned or used a 2010 Macbook Pro and migrated your account over? defaults read "$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SystemProfiler.plist" 'CPU Names'
markw
Here you go Sean. Looks to me like my previous mac’s info, which was from 2010, is still in this Mac as well as it’s true identity? I shall leave it to you to figure out what’s going on there! It does indeed look like your Mac has remembered your previous Mac's details. We're currently getting the first entry in that list which has proved to be inaccurate. I was getting similar behaviour here in that my device was displaying in German. It seems every time you switch your Region in Languages & Regions and then you display your About This Mac dialog, it adds that languages details to the list in the language you had selected, and as de-DE comes before en-GB it was choosing the German string. This has been passed on to development now and improved so should be correct for nearly* all instances now. *there may be some very unique/unusual fringe cases, but we will keep an eye on this. markw
Adriandw
Same happened to me, Designer/Publisher thinks I'm still running on my late 2008 15 inch MacBook Pro. If you remember Only Fools and Horses, this may remind you of Trigger's Broom Since 2008, I have upgraded my hardware and my software. So is it the same system? antiope:~ adrianw$ defaults read "$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SystemProfiler.plist" 'CPU Names' { "1G0-en-GB_GB" = "MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008)"; "1G0-en_GB" = "MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008)"; "FQPN-en-GB_GB" = "iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)"; "FQPP-en-GB_GB" = "iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)"; }

So is it the same system? Haha classic! 🤣 I believe the plist gets transferred over using Mac's Migration Assistant and just appended with the new details. We should have a better method coming soon! So with any luck it'll show your new broom handle! markw

Staff Sean P Posted November 9, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 9, 2020 Hi all, This should now be resolved in 1.9.0.7. Do you mind just giving a recheck for me on the Registration Complete/Sign In dialog please? I'm now getting served up the correct Mac!
markw
Good morning Sean🙂 Ah, alas my copy of 1.9.0.7 still thinks it is running on my old 2010 Mac😒 macOS 10.15.7 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M
Adriandw
Hi Sean, I logged out and logged in again (first on Designer 1.9.0.7 and then on Publisher 1.9.0.829). Now the Registered apps & devices web page has the last login date updated to today, but it still thinks I'm using the MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) which hasn't been turned on for several years. Staff DanG Posted January 10, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 10, 2021 Hi @markw & @Adriandw, Would you mind retesting this in the latest build? A fix has been put in so the information should now be updating correctly. Thanks a lot
Adriandw
It's fine now, thank you. Correct Device name shown in screen capture below (also for Designer and Publisher). In the meantime I also upgraded macOS from Mojave to Catalina, in case that is relevant.
