aleksandraherzyk Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Hi, I have been trying to get some solutions to the problem since march 2019, but haven't got any. I have a problem that seems to be common, the brush strokes are rough, not smooth as in Photoshop. I have read it was a bug, but idk. This makes a clean linear t impossible to achieve and I have to switch between photoshop and affinity photo all the time. Pls help Quote
Dan C Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Hi @aleksandraherzyk, I have read through your previous posts on the forums, which seem to be very similar to your post here. In previous posts it has been recommended that you use the Brush Stabiliser to reduce the 'roughness' you're seeing in the strokes and this is still the recommended option to resolve the issue you've reported. Can you please also double click on the Brush in use (in the Brushes studio) as this should open the brush editor to show your brush settings, then provide screenshots of your settings here? Many thanks in advance. Quote
aleksandraherzyk Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 Hi, I am using brush stabiliser from time to time, when i have to draw some architecture or sth like that, but drawing with it all the time isn't very convenient, most time I need some expressive brush strokes. Now for some reason my brush is horrible, the strokes are not only rough, but too thick or too thin, the shape is not smooth at all. I prefer Affinty to Ps because f the stabiliser and color wheel, but I can't use it due to this problem cause I am an illustrator. Quote
aleksandraherzyk Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 In addition now the brush stops drawing in some random moments Quote
Dan C Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 @aleksandraherzyk, my sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. If you're having brushes not draw randomly, then I recommend resetting your app back to default settings, as you may have inadvertently changed a setting without meaning to. You can reset your app back to its default settings by holding down the CTRL key while launching the app. When the Clear User Data window appears, click Select All and then Clear. The app will now open. Be aware that resetting your app back to its default settings will lose any custom settings such as keyboard shortcuts and brushes etc. To backup such settings before resetting the app, please watch our Affinity: Exporting User Settings and Keyboard Shortcuts video. - https://player.vimeo.com/video/189596577/ Please do let me know if this helps. aleksandraherzyk Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 @Dan CIt is still the same :< and it stops drawing sometimes for no reason, like t was lagging :< Quote
firstdefence Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Do you have any other drawing apps to compare performance, such as Krita, or MediaBang to name a few? What is your system spec? What size are the brushes being used? What are the settings/dimensions of the document, so we can try to recreate your environment, else upload the, I assume, .afphoto file. aleksandraherzyk Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 Photoshop, and in PS it is ok, the lines are smooth. Here the size of the brush (4 from Christi's Comic toolbox, but it is the same with all the other brushes) is around 4,5 px, document is 297x210 mm 300 dpi. I have Windows 10. Quote
Dan C Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 @aleksandraherzyk thanks for the further info. As other users are not experiencing this, and you have reset your app to default settings - this would indicate to me a possible issue with either your tablet, or it's settings within the Wacom Driver. Can you please open the Wacom settings and provide screenshots of the tabs here, including your tablet settings here for within Photoshop? It's possible that the driver is providing different settings for Photoshop and Affinity. One thing I'm specifically interested in is whether Windows INK is checked in your Wacom settings. Secondly, if you open Edit > Preferences > Tools, what option is set in use for 'Tablet Input Method' Thirdly, through Windows Settings, do you know if Windows Ink is enabled here? SrPx 1 Quote
aleksandraherzyk Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Wooow, I had the Tablet input method set to low, I have changed it to high and it seems it helped! Finally I can use the app ❤️ For some reason I can't open my Wacom settings, it informs me about some error, and it was always like that, but I have used two models of Wacom and it was the same, so it seems that it was because of this input method. Thank You for Your help! SrPx and Dan C 2 Quote
