jw432 Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Often when I use the inpainting brush NOTHING happens (regardless of the layer setting (Current Layer or Current Layer and Below). I paint over the object, the computer does some thinking and then the image looks just the same. Am I missing something on how to use this properly? It happens a lot. I'm on 1.8.5.703. Quote
Old Bruce Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Are you working with an Image layer or a Pixel layer? Has to be a pixel layer. jw432 Posted November 2, 2020 Author Posted November 2, 2020 well old Bruce, you are probably on the right track - I don't know and I guess I need to RTFM a bit more. 🙂 I'll take more explanation on there if you're up for it, or I'll find it in the docs. Thanks Update: Online help says nothing about this under Inpainting brush using image or pixel layer. My layer is a 'merge visible' layer named of all things 'Pixel'. So I'm guessing I'm dealing with a pixel layer. Quote
Old Bruce Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Ah, yes. The Fine manual. I worked with a fine Manuel for about twelve years, nice fellow. If you place an image file be it a JPEG/TIFF/PDF it will be an Image layer which will need to be rasterized before you can alter its pixels with a brush like the Inpainting Brush. or the Stamp tool too. Just Duplicate it and then rasterize that and go to work. The problem is that the pixels in the image layer are not necessarily the same size as the pixels in the document. Old Bruce Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Great you solved it! With only minimal interference from me. Happy to hear this. I keep forgetting about opacity and flow rates, been bitten often enough I should know better.
