Hi all,

Would be very grateful if someone could shed light on why I’m seeing different histograms displayed for the same file depending on whether I view it in camera (LUMIX G9) or in Develop persona in Affinity?Image in RAW format. See attached.

Regards,

John.

@Amosjl - In general, the camera histogram is based on the processed JPEG that the camera is generating from the raw capture, regardless of whether you are saving the JPEG or just the raw file.  If your camera has a JPEG setting that is black and white, you can set the camera to this mode and the histogram will display the same curve in all three color channels (the black and white image), even thought the raw file will preserve all of the color info.  This is one reason why it can sometimes be hard to judge exposure for a raw file based on the in-camera histogram, which is based on the processed JPEG.

The AP histogram is displaying the rendered raw file made with AP's conversion settings, not the camera's conversion settings - the two histograms are, and typically should be, different because the resulting rendered image file in AP is not based on the same processing or settings as the in-camera JPEG.
