I am on an iMac, macOS Catalina, version 10.15.7, Affinity Photo 1.8.4.

I opened a jpeg file and did extensive modifications.  Tried to save, but nothing happened. Tried to export; nothing happened.  Went to shut down and I got message asking if I wanted to save.  I clicked "yes"; nothing happened.

Tried flattening, tried re-rasterizing; nothing happened to help save file.

Tried exporting as PDF, JPEG, PNG; no help.

Can't "drag" the file because I can't save it so it doesn't exist... except in the non-closed Affinity Photo.

Please help.  Can't find anything useful in Forums or on internet.

Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the forums @ajarborn
When you say that “nothing happened”, what precisely did you do and what actually did happen?
For instance, how did you try and save?
Did you use the File menu or a shortcut key?
If you used the File menu could you click on the Save item or was it greyed-out?
When you did what you did, does the asterisk next to the filename in the window title bar disappear or is it still there?

We need to know exactly what you did and exactly what happened at each stage to be able to properly diagnose what is going on.

Also, has the machine you are using ever had multiple monitors? (The Export Dialog may be on a screen which isn’t currently there.)
