MiWe Posted October 28, 2020 Share Posted October 28, 2020 Hi all. at the moment i try to use the perspective tool on a masked layer without any luck ... Scenario 1 - two layers - the upper one works as mask - selct both layers - perspective tool deforms both, mask and the layer beneath it So far so good. Scenario 2 - one layer - mask is nested to that layer - perspective tool deforms only the layer without the mask How can i achieve to use perspective tool sucessfully in scenario 2? Staff MEB Posted October 28, 2020 Staff Share Posted October 28, 2020 Hi MiWe, The Perspective Tool is destructive (you can't edit it after applying the transform) whereas the live filter is non-destructive and remains editable. So yes, in most cases you will want to use the live filter as it gives more flexibility in case you need to re-adjust the distortion later. Played a little bit with the live filter and tried after applying to use the clone tool – no good idea. I had to disable the live effect or rasterrize the layer to work on. If you have trouble cloning with a live filter applied (since it distorts while you paint as well), disable the live filter (ticking the checkbox in the respective layer), clone the part you want then enable the live filter again. If that's not what you are doing please attach the file so we can see the layer structure/construct you are working with since there's various factors that may interfere here (is the live filter nested to the layer, above it, applied to a group containing the layer etc etc). That is what i did, disableing te live effect. As i wrote in my previous post 😉. Rasterizing would just be the alternative ... Still it's better to simply disable the filter temporarily to clone, than apply the destructive version as it limits you later in case you need the adjust the perspective.
