I am a long time user of Adobe Photoshop, but I am retired and cannot afford their prices. Question:  Can an RGB and CMYK file be changed to grayscale for professional printing?

I can confirm that Affinity apps can open/import RGB / CMYK files and they can be converted to Greyscale for printing.

What type of documents are you looking to open/import please?

Thanks in advance!

Graphics for a bulletin that gets printed for distribution to a group.  The editor sends the graphics in color, either RGB or CMYK, and I have to convert to grayscale. The bulletin is printed in black ink.  Thank you for answering me.  Adobe has gotten quite expensive, and although I purchased the Creative Suite since version 2, they don't seem to care.
