Hi Guys,

I updated my Windows 10 Home to version 20H2 yesterday.
Since then I can't start Designer, Publisher or Photo.
I get the following error message in the event viewer:

Application: Photo.exe
Framework version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception information: System.ArithmeticException

Exception information: System.OverflowException
    at System.Windows.Media.Imaging.ColorConvertedBitmap.FinalizeCreation ()
    at System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapImage.FinalizeCreation ()
    at System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapImage.EndInit ()
    at Serif.Affinity.ResourceManager.GetBitmapSourceCore (System.String)
    at Serif.Affinity.UI.AboutDialog..ctor (Boolean)
    at Serif.Affinity.Application.RunSingleInstance ()
    at Photo.Application.Main (System.String [])

What could that be? Maybe someone from you has an idea?

Hi @SirJohn62,

Welcome to the forums :)

This is an error we've seen recently, it appears as though Windows is changing the default sRGB profile to be 'virtual', which causes Affinity to crash on load.

Please open Windows Start and type 'Colour Management', then open the Windows app -

With this dialog open, select the Advanced tab, then make sure your settings match the below -

After doing this, restart your PC then try loading Affinity again, you should find the app opens as expected. I hope this helps!

Hello @Dan C,

you were absolutely right. Thank you for your quick help and effort. I was just about to design a photo book from a wedding and I didn't know what to do next.

So thank you again.

Exactly the same problem here following an update to Windows 10.0.19041 Build 19041

Affinity Photo wouldn't start, so I removed it and tried to re-install - and the installer wouldn't even run.

Changing the device profile got me running again.
