Soundtraveller
Hello everyone. I am new to Affinity so I apologise if the question has already been answered. My render software produces images/renders as well as alpha channels (black and white raster graphics). How do I copy an alpha channel into an empty mask layer? Thank you for your help Best regards Soundtraveller
Staff MEB Posted August 28, 2015 Staff Share Posted August 28, 2015 Hello Soundtraveller, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) If the alpha channel produced by your software is a greyscale image, select it and go to menu Layer ▸ Rasterise to Mask. You can attach it to a specific layer dragging it over the layer's thumbnail in the Layers panel. Soundtraveller
Hello MEB, Thank you for your message. Your solution partially works for me. When I follow your steps, I am able attach the alpha channel to the layer. However, part of the alpha channel is clipped (a horizontal or vertical band) resulting in part of the layer not being displayed. Is there some formatting to be done? Soundtraveller
Hello MEB, Do you have any suggestion regarding my additional question? My alpha channels are generated in Maxwell Render with the same format that the main image. Best regards Soundtraveller
Staff MEB Posted September 4, 2015 Staff Share Posted September 4, 2015 Hi Soundtraveller, Sorry the delay getting back to you. ... However, part of the alpha channel is clipped (a horizontal or vertical band) resulting in part of the layer not being displayed. Is there some formatting to be done? No, there's no need to format anything. Can you post a sample .afdesign file with the image and alpha channel so i can see what's going on? Thanks.
