I tried to export a document into PDF-X3 or X4. When doing so…

…text in black got separated into CMYK

…text and elements on a background lost all trappings.

Only resolution was to export in PDF 1.7

Whatever adjustments are made in the pdf export menu get ignored/overwritten.

Quite annoying to be honest.

I've uploaded it.
Sorry for the late reply… I forgot to set notification on replies. My bad.

I do hope you can tell me why I was unable to produce a k-only pdf.

Thank you very much!

Sadly I couldn't even exporting as PDF 1.7 didn't lead to a correct result consistently.
In the end we fixed it in the RIP at the printers. Made me look like an incompetent fool.

As I want to use Publisher for many upcoming book projects it would be great if you could tell me how to fix it.

Thanks a lot!

Did you have problems with the same afpub file? If I export it as PDF (for export) I get the correct result, with only one(Black) plate.

In that case everything is ok.
My printing house said my PDFs are all in CMYK.
Either they made a mistake or I did.

Anyway – thanks a lot!
The PDF X4 is still unresolved but you said you already logged it.
So thanks for that as well.

Sorry for the bother.
