spinhead
Late night fooling around, so might just be my brain, but I wanted to translate this Photoshop tutorial to Affinity https://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/super-quick-and-easy-duotone-text-effect--cms-28993 Cannot sort out Part 2 Step 2, making the transparency mask so you can map the two colors to darks and lights. Tips, pointers? Thanks.
kaffeeundsalz
Part 2 Step 2 involves creating the Gradient Map adjustment. Is that what you mean? If so, it works exactly the same as in Photoshop. Affinity Photo doesn't have a Dither checkbox, but you can ignore this; the effect is identical. spinhead
Ergs. Maybe I should use PHOTO instead of DESIGNER. (I default to Designer to create, Photo to edit, and didn't even think about where I should be following a PHOTOshop tutorial. Hey, it was late.) Thanks muchly, @kaffeeundsalz

Thanks muchly, @kaffeeundsalz You can use any Affinity app. They all support clipping and have the Gradient Map Adjustment.
spinhead
Then I'm still confused. I'll do some reading about how the Gradient Map works; it's where I'm getting hung up. All I get is a red/green/blue gradient but I don't know what to do with it.
spinhead
Huh. Dunno why I wasn't getting it. Thanks, all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soJBciuPDcw
spinhead
Simpler still, just use Split Toning. First image, all the fussing of the tutorial, second image, mask text to photo and add a Split Toning adjustment layer. Slightly different colors, but the same effect (with a bit of fiddling as I learn to use it) without all the extra steps.
