asond
Hi guys, I've relatively new to Affinity Photo, trying to make the switch over from PS which I have been using for nearly 20 years, but I cant seem to get the hang of adjusting mask layers through adjustments or opacity. As you can see in the image below, I have my coffee stain on a layer (blue) within a group (red). I added a mask onto the group (green) and painted some spatter breakup using the brush tool on the mask layer (green) which resulted in the coffee stain being broken up as shown. However when I adjust the opacity of the mask layer the entire coffee stain disappears and all I want to adjust is the layer mask (green) i just painted, there must be a way to do this? I also tried adding new mask layers or adjustment layers on top (yellow) to adjust the contrast/HSL/brightness of the mask I just painted (green) but none of that worked as intended. Any help would be appreciated, I really dont want to go back to PS - thanks.
lepr
Welcome to the Affinity forums Nest a Levels Adjustment or Curves Adjustment in the Mask object, set the adjustment channel to Alpha and then manipulate the other controls. In your case, you probably want to raise the output black level of the adjustment. Callum
