Hi ... relatively new user here . v 1.3.5 on macbook air Yosemite 10.10.5

I'm experiencing some odd behaviour with select sampled colour

1. have an image where it is "stuck" selecting blue ... tried opening, closing, redeveloping the RAW, clicking the dropper on different colours etc etc ... all it wants to do is select blue. See attached screenshot where dropper is black and it is selecting blue

2. have experience with various images where the select sampled colour either selects nothing or the entire image - i"ve attached screenshots showing nothing selected and then the whole image after moving the slider to 1%. I have seen other help and have made sure to select the pixel layer as you can see in the screenshot

3. when I have made a selection and then inverted it to make another selection, the two masks together don't add up to the original image ... the masking appears to have quite a bit of some transparency. Is this how it is supposed to work? I would have thought they should add up to the original image?

I guess some of these could be bugs? Or just user error?

thanks for any help and suggestions

I'm not quite sure, but in the first picture, I don't think you have any layer selected.

In the second and third, can you tick the little circle on the right of the colorpicker and see if that helps?

Hi David0908,

Welcome to the Forums :)

The Select Sampled Colour tool doesn't actually have anything to do with the Colour picker or the Colour you have selected for use. The Select Sampled Colour tool is used to select an entire colour on an image. To use it you click select and go to Select Sampled Colour and then with the popup window open you click the colour on your document that you want to select and it will select all of that colour in the document. You can see more about this in the in App help by searching for Select Sampled Colour. I hope this helps :)

awesome - thanks Callum - that certainly explains a lot. suggestion: it would be quite intuitive if the colour picker also selected the colour to be sampled

Madame - thanks for the suggestion but I was aware of the need to select a layer -just it was out of the screenshot
