Pasting an image from one layer to another

Ive edited a background of an image to transparent, leaving an image of some of my students. When I try to copy and paste this image into another layer this image doesnt appear - the layer appears as an empty (black) layer

Hi @zekeyfand Welcome the for the Forums,

Can you try selecting the students in the image, the Selection Brush should allow you to do that easily.  Then try copying the Selection and Pasting into the background you have.
