Julia_G Posted October 18, 2020 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Dear wisdom-group, after updating my publisher (newest version), I could start a document but after a while publisher crashes all the time, I deinstalled it and installed it again, I do not know whats wrong - is have Mac 10.13.6 (Sierra) on an 11 year old computer with just 4 GB RAM but still enough space on the hard drive... Palatino Posted October 18, 2020 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Hurra, deutsch! 😉 Die Abstürze kann ich grundsätzlich bestätigen. Und 4 GB ist für MacOS zu wenig. Der Vorgänger meines jetzigen Mac minis hatte 8 GB und war um Welten stabiler. Ein Speicherfresser, der sich speziell mit Publisher schlecht verträgt, ist Safari. Will ich intensiv mit Publisher arbeiten, beende ich alle sonstigen Programme, die ich nicht unbedingt brauche. Hauptauslöser für Abstürze ist ein Doppelklick auf die Seiten-Bilder bzw. die Musterseiten. Deshalb speichere ich vor jedem Doppelklick auf ein Seiten-Bild. Auch lege ich zur Sicherheit im Laufe einer Design-Entwicklung immer wieder eine neue Datei-Version an. Von den drei Affinity-Programmen finde ich Designer am stabilsten. Mein nächster Mac wird mit ARM-Prozessor sein und mindestens 16 GB RAM. Bei aller diesbezüglichen Kritik an Publisher: Für mich war Publisher ein Geschenk des Himmels. ---------------------- Hurray, German! I can basically confirm the crashes. And 4 GB is too little for MacOS. The predecessor of my current Mac minis had 8 GB and was worlds more stable. One memory hog, which is especially bad for publishers, is Safari. If I want to work intensively with Publisher, I terminate all other programs that I don't necessarily need. The main trigger for crashes is a double click on the page images or the sample pages. Therefore I save before each double click on a page image. Also, for safety reasons I always create a new file version during the course of a design development. Of the three affinity programs I find Designer the most stable. My next Mac will be with ARM processor and at least 16 GB RAM. Blende21 Posted October 18, 2020 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Was immer helfen kann ist der Ersatz einer alten HDD durch eine SSD. SATA-SSDs im 2,5“ Format bekommt man gerade nachgeschmissen. 4GB RAM sind definitiv zu wenig. Die älteren Macs sollten sich da doch noch relativ einfach aufrüsten lassen ? Auch RAM kostet nicht mehr due Welt. Beides macht aus einem 11 Jahre alten Mac jetzt keine Killermaschine, aber helfen sollte es. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
