You just need to find the file (in Finder on a Mac or in File Explorer on Windows) and delete it there. Empty the Trash or the Recycle Bin, as appropriate, if you’re sure you want to remove it permanently.

Hi @THE SQUIRE,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Are you using the iPad applications? If so, in the screen where the files/projects are displayed (sandbox area) tap the small menu icon on the bottom right of each project/file and select Close.
If you are using the desktop apps on macOS and Windows just delete the respective files as Alfred explained above in Finder or File Explorer windows.
