Focal Point
In Affiniti Photo for iPad, how would you use a gradient to fade from light to dark (or vice versa). For example, To convert a bland sky to graduated. Thanks for any tips.
Dan C
Hi @Focal Point You can use the Gradient tool to apply a gradient fill to your image, however this will simply apply a Pixel based fill and will not look like a sky. Could you possibly provide some sample images, or a further description of the effect you're looking to achieve? Many thanks in advance! Focal Point
Hi Dan, thanks for getting back. What I’m trying to do is convert a plain sky to a graduated sky as regards its light and dark values; in effect, an exposure gradient. I appreciate this could be achieved by dodging or burning gradually, but it would be smoother to be able to set a start point, dragging down and releasing where required. Blj
Apply a adjustment layer such as a curve or brightness contrast. Make sure the adjustment layer is selected and invert it’s mask. Grab the gradient tool set the colors from white to black and place the gradient over your sky so you get a graduated mask. Tweak the adjustment as you please. Note this can also be done in the develop persona using a gradient overlay and the exposure settings.
