hi,
been going slightly loopy with this... really slowing me down - and had worked fine previously...

I have a file with 6 artboards — one has colour swatches as shapes to be used for overlays, the rest have the graphics.
Normally, I'd edit my graphics, then simply select one of the colour shapes (on a different artboard) and alt-drag to copy across to the graphics artboard. That always worked fine.

Now, I cannot select anything on another artboard, ie only the artboard I am currently will allow me to select via clicking on shape/line.
If I click on a shape/line on a different artboard, nothing happens... Have set up new files with different settings etc, restarted all - checked preferences...nothing I can find that solves it.

Finally just do a work-around now - by double-clicking artboard title to select it, then select my graphic to copy — the double-click the other artboard again to paste it....
giving up on the alt-drag now - this is very long-winded all of a sudden...
PLUS: annoyingly double-clicking artboard title switches selected move tool to node tool...

Did a quick screencast to show you.

PS: another new issue is with placing shapes outside of the artboard.
This worked ok before (bit quirky in behaviour at times but worked) — but now, whenever I want to place anyting outside of the artboards, I will have to manually move it in the layer panel to be outside of the artboard. Only then will it appear. Otherwise, the shapes somehow remain, selectable only by dragging across... very odd and frustrating ;(
