Studio - small Icons like Illustrator

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

i am new to Affinity and moved away from all adobe products because of the price-management.

My question: is it possible to change the tools to small icons like in illustrator? I have all my tools i need on the right side but i want them smaller (by clicking the tool opens). I am using a MacBook 13" and the display is just too small for the work surface.

Thanks.

When you say 'tools' do you mean the various panels from the View > Studio > menu, Like Layers, Assets, Colour, Swatches etc.? If yes then you can undock them by dragging them out of the dock, they will now have a little 'x' in the upper left corner which will close them (not what you want) but if you double click on the name it will collapse down to just the width of the panel and the height of the name. you can even have them grouped together.

Before and after

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Yes ... i mean the various panels of the studio. I want them as little squares like the tools on the left side. By clicking the tools they pop up and shows the hole menu. This would be nice to add in future.

By the way: why is it not possible to export PNG's without background? This should be an option in the PNG panel. I know that you can choose this option in the document settings but this should be really in the export settings.

…and by way of visual example the OP means this, showing icons with names and with names but essentially collapsed.
