Affinity Photo crashes when opening files

Every time I try to open Affinity Photo it opens okay and then I open a file and it crashes immediately. 

I've restarted, updated and waiting but nothing works. I've been told it could relate to my fonts but I have 1000s of fonts so the idea of uninstalling them all and starting again terrifies me as it will cause a huge issue. 

Anything I can do to resolve this?

Welcome to the forums :)

If this happens with all files it could well be the number of fonts you have installed. You could try downloading a font management or font loader app which will allow you to disable fonts without having to completely uninstall them.

@Callum I've downloaded FontBase to try and resolve it but I can't work out what I'm supposed to do, I've looked through the information on the website but it's still crashing every time

Check if the studio panel "text styles" is opened on loading any image except .afphoto-files. APhoto will crash immediately on loading an image while "text styles" is open. Close the panel before loading an image and try again.

My system: Windows 10 rebuild 19041,630, 64bit on a XMG notebook with Intel i7, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 650M graphic, and Samsung SSD.

There's no panel open. 

I've tried deleting a number of fonts and font base doesn't seem to co-operate with me
