Hello,

I recently purchased Affinity Photo for my iMac so I can replace Photoshop CS6. In PS I have a lot of plugins I would like to use in Affinity. The ones I am most interested in are Topaz, OnOne and Luminar. There are others I would like to use in Affinity but are not as desirable as the ones I mentioned.

Is there a procedure for doing this? Can someone point me in that direction and perhaps more importantly, how do I troubleshoot this if/when they don't work? What kinds of plugin/filter files is Affinity looking for and where is it looking for them?

Thanks in advance

I don’t have a Mac, but I’ll tell you how did it wok for me having Windows 10 64 bits. I have no idea if there are any differences for one or the other regarding what you asked (which I am not totally certain what it was).

In Edit > Preferences > Photoshop Plugins (as translated from Spanish) you can “Add” (in the window that opens) the directories (point at the directories or sub-directories) where the plugins are installed. Then you have to Close that window and restart the program. Ones the program restarts, the plugins should appear in Filters > Plugins (again, as translated from Spanish).

I have several Topaz legacy plugins and Fxlabs (their legacy host program to load their plugins which in turn can work as a plugin) and they all open and work in my Affinity Photo (remember that my computer has Windows 10). Because of that, I was granted to download Classic Studio (an update for Fxlabs but already a legacy product too) and their new products Studio 2 and Adjust AI for free, and Mask AI (which I could get as a very cheap update because I already had Topaz Remask), which can all be opened and do work in my Affinity Photo.

Topaz Labs allows to download trials of their plugins, so you can try them yourself. But I think you even said you already own them, which would be one of the reasons for which I am not sure of which exactly was your question.

In their website, On1 says that they support Affinity for their product to work with it ( https://www.on1.com/products/photo-raw/specs/ ). It is included in their “Optional Application Integration” list, among other programs. I haven’t tried On1.

Regarding Luminar, I have read in Skylum’s forum that they say they do not officially support Affinity and I have also read there that many have said that they are not being able to make Luminar work as a plugin in Affinity and just a few that said that they have managed to have it work: https://community.skylum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360009383879-Luminar-4-3-in-Affinity-Photo-

I don’t know if what I have told you answerers your question and I am not sure if it helps as you have a Mac and my computer has Windows 10. Sorry if not. It would be better if someone that has a Mac answers your question.

Muchas gracias Alejandro that was a big help.  I had the pleasure of visiting Buenos Aires many years ago for business. Buenos Aires and the people were amazing. My grandfather was born in Buenos Aires and then his parents took him back to Italy.

I will try putting your information to good use.

Thanks again
