Chezqui Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 So I made an arc and then rotated a rectangle and copies. When I try and join them into one shape I get this bar across the image. Sometimes a wide one that shows up and other times one that can be only seen in outline view. Any thoughts welcome Quote

Any thoughts welcome The arc, was it a closed curve or open? It looks like it might have been open and the geometric operation closed it. If so try doing an expand stroke on it before joining them. Alfred Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Instead of joining up lots of separate pieces, I would create a shape with the Cog Tool and then intersect with a rectangle to leave the quadrant that I want to keep. I thought I had close the ends using the pen tool but obviously not. I would normally use command J but it doesn't work in Designer. Quote
Chezqui Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 So How do I go about joining these two ends please Quote

If not and you want these two nodes connected, select the end two nodes then do a Join Curves. Pressing a cmd J will duplicate a layer(s). Or a copy paste (cmd C cmd V) will duplicate a layer. Gear maker Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Your second picture shows what the joining line will look like. If you opt click on the handle sticking out to the left (not the node) you can convert it into a sharp corner. Quote iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra

Sorry to be a complete plonker but I did try join curves with this result shown Quote

The join does cause the node handle to stick out resulting in a bulbous end. Just opt (alt) click on the left handle and it will turn into a straight line connecting the nodes. If you want to join the other two nodes use the Close Curve. Quote iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra

Chezqui, I did AI and PS as a hobby. But I have found that the Affinity products are more intuitive than the Adobe. And only a few things I now miss from them. The subscription is of course not one of them. Every once in a while I go back and use a copy I still have that is presubscription for one thing or another and find I don't remember it enough to be efficient and it's not intuitive at all. Bottom line I'm glad for the switch. I hope you feel the same shortly. Your page looks great! Quote iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra

Rain forrest Rainforest (all one word, one ‘r’ in ‘forest’) fringers fingers (remove the superfluous ‘r’) forrest cannopy forest canopy (one ‘r’, one ‘n’) And finally, your tree frogs “have powerful back legs to allow them to spring.” Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)

It's what is known as 'blurb'. Just put in place to give an idea of what copy would look like. Gear Maker helped me out here... he gave me the answers I needed. Alfred 1 Quote
