Hello.  From what I understand, if you have an ellipse selected (with the magnet tool turned on) and you go to select the pen tool, you should see guides within the ellipse to help you use the pen tool if you want to create lines from it's center.  [This was demonstrated in a skillshare class].  This feature is not occurring for me.  I showed it to the instructor and they agreed it is not working correctly.  I'm not sure if this is a bug that occurred to an update or if anyone else is aware of this.  Any assistance for me to mindful of would be appreciated.  For now, I use the horizontal and vertical guides to find the center of the ellipse and apply the pen tool from that center accordingly.  Thanks.

If by "magnet tool" you mean the Snapping button on the toolbar, note that if you click the downward pointing triangle next to it, a menu opens with lots of snapping options. The Pen & Node tools also have additional snapping options available on the context toolbar that can be used in addition to or instead of those available from the Snapping menu.

So for example, even if snapping is disabled on the toolbar, if you first select the ellipse with the Move Tool or by clicking on it in the Layers panel, & then select the Pen Tool with the first "Snap" context toolbar option enabled (Align to nodes of selected curves Align to nodes of selected curves) you can snap the Pen Tool to various points on the ellipse to begin drawing your line from.

Thank you for your response.  I made mistake posting this in this category.  This is for Affinity Designer for the Ipad.  That being said your assistance prompted me to check the snapping settings on my Ipad and everything is working out fine now.  So thank you!
