changing printable size from A3 to A6

Hi, I am in the process of designing a poster.  The image consists of a photograph plus text I have applied.  I have produced the initial file in Affinity Design, A3 pixel size, 300 resolution with a 5mm bleed.

But I also need to have the poster to be printed in A6 and the printer would prefer  me to resize it myself.  I am unsure how to do this, but it's a skill I want to learn.

I would be so pleased/grateful if someone could guide me through what to do.

You could go to File | Document Setup and resize the document to scale everything to the target pixel dimensions you require; use the Export Persona (my preference, because if there is any rework and you need to do this again everything is all set up to repeat on a single click); or File | Export... and set it to the dimensions you require at that point. Resizing the document will give you a tad more control if the smaller image requires any "treatment" to make is acceptable at that scale e.g. very thin lines or image sharpening (if you have access to Affinity Photo). It might not apply to your poster but if you have any other graphic elements in the design you might want to check that scale with object is checked on all your strokes so that the objects will scale proportionally.

A6 or A5? A6 is tiny. 

However, this should work with any A(x) sheet and will give you two working posters, one at A3 and one at A6. It's a bit more complex than @Paul Mc's suggestion but it it retains both sizes of poster in the same .afd document.

First, use the Artboard tool to change your A3 document into an artboard. I also changed the name of my artboard to A3.

Next, rasterise the photograph if you haven't already done so - it should show as Pixel in the Layers palette, not Image. This is so you can resize it at the same time as the text.

Should look a bit like this:

Now duplicate your artboard - click on the Artboard layer in the Layers palette and type Cmd-J (Ctrl-J on a PC).

Rename this artboard to A6, drag it away from the A3 artboard in the working area so you can see both.

Use the Transform panel to resize the A6 artboard to 105x148:

Select all the content of the "A6" artboard and use the Move tool with the resize handle to scale the content and adjust its position within the A6 artboard:

Make any aesthetic changes (tracking, vertical spacing...) you think necessary to the smaller poster.

Switch to Export Persona and in the Export Options panel select both Artboards, set the Mode to Selection and the preset to PDF (you may need to adjust the Export Options further depending on your printer's requirements.)

 

In the Slices panel, click Export Slices to export both artboards as PDFs:
