krommenaas Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 I'm finishing the formatting of my novel. The book is all text, except for 4 images. The printer wants me to use K only. Some questions. 1) Can I trust that all my text is 100% K and K only, since it is black? If not, what do I do to make sure it is 100% K and K only? 2) I've made the images grayscale only before copy/pasting them to Publisher. I thought that was that, but I noticed a "K only" button when I selected an image. When I clicked it, the greys in the image just disappeared. That's not the idea of course, the greys should be lower % of K. I don't know if there is any CMY. How can I check this? How can I make my images 100% K inside Publisher without losing the greys? 3) One of my images is in Publisher as a "Pixel" object. I don't see how or why it's different from an image. This object doesn't have the "K only" button. Any idea why? Thanks in advance! Quote
krommenaas Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Hi, Thanks for your reply. I was asked to use CMYK colour format and Uncoated FOGRA29 colour profile though, so I probably shouldn't change that to Gray/8 and D50. All I want is for my handful of images to use only K, no CMY. Is there no way to achieve that? Surely novel formatting must be a common application of Publisher. Quote
krommenaas Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 So should I use grey8/D50 document settings, and export to CMYK/FOGRA29, or vice versa? How do you get this Output Preview window? I can't find it anywhere. Quote
