Publisher does not maintain on startup documents that were open at last session, although the option is activated in prefs.(latests Publisher version 1.8.4 ; MacOS Mojave 10.14.6)

@A.Y. Hi, and welcome to the forums.

Just a guess, but does the macOS setting “Close windows when quitting an app,” make any difference?

Well, it should, but in my system this option is not activated. Also, other apps (including for example Affinity Photo) do maintain windows/tabs across sessions, so it seems rather a Publisher bug than a system behaviour.

Reopening works charming for me. – How about the preference in APub?

Hi @A.Y.,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

It seems to be working fine for me too. Can you attach a screen recording of your workflow? Make sure you open Publisher's General preferences and System Preferences so we make sure everything is fine.

Hi Gabe, thanks for your message. Well, this is quite strange: things came spontaneously back to normal, that is Publisher is again keeping the window configuration of last session with the docs that should be open. I don't know what caused the problem nor what and how it got solved by itself. I'm 100% certain that both Publisher prefs and System prefs were correctly configured, as it is standard procedure for me for many years already and I specifically remember checking the option for Publisher (it *did* work as I said for a few months since I got Publisher). Finally all is well, and thanks to all who tried to help.
