So, I made my shape with my pen tool, I paused to correct some other nodes, went back to my shape and now I try to close this gap as shown on my image. First thing I tried was "Add new curve to selected bla bla bla", it did add a curve but it's not connected and the join / close joint is greyed out... so how do I use the pen tool on already existing nodes? ..and yes, I know, I could create ten thousand shapes + Add function and it would be a work around but I prefer to be able to modify my paths.

  1. Make sure the open shape is selected
  2. Choose either the Pen or Node tool
  3. On the context toolbar use the Close Curve button in the Action button group

How do I turn off the pen tool in affinity designer 2?

Unfortunately I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this - you cannot turn off a Tool in Affinity Designer, however if you don't wish to use the Pen Tool you can simply switch to a different tool (such as the Move Tool or the Node Tool) by selecting it from the left hand toolbar.

If I've misunderstood what you're looking to achieve in Designer, can you please expand on what you mean by this, or the issue you are having?

Many thanks in advance!
