Josh Robern Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 What exactly does the layer lock do if not prevent changes to the layer? Is there a way to prevent changes to a layer? Quote
firstdefence Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Locking a layer prevents selection from the workspace, but maintains editing capabilities barring transforming, such as scaling, moving position, rotation etc but you can still change colour, erase and add effects and filters but you have to select the layer from the layers panel to be able to do this. What layer locking does is disable the transform panel for that layer. A true locking option for a layer may come in the future as it has been requested previously but for now it is still possible to accidentally change the contents of a layer that is marked as "locked" Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Because the lock does not protect the contents of the locked layer, as each user would expect from the "Lock" name and icon, but only prevents the layer from being selected from the work area with the mouse cursor.
