Mr. Doodlezz
Hey fellow Affinity friends! Have some new styles – fresh of the press. :) Played around with styles today and came up with the idea of the letterpress effects. A bit desdaturated, but these are just the presets. Obviously you can try different blend modes, colors and backgrounds. This is how the four different styles look like if you use them directly on text or vector layers. Use on path-based layers recommended, the effect doesn't show off well on pixel layers … And this is what they may look like after fiddling around with perspective and some further effects applied. Anyways, the afstyles are packed as a zip – have fun messing around! :D Letterpress & Embossing.zip daniannexo, ralphlambiase, superhaschi and 13 others 15
ronnyb
Well done, the post-processing really pushes the hyper realism... Mr. Doodlezz
Exactly! It adds a lot of the realness, though you probably could push it even further with better adjusted light direction in the style itself to match the lighting later in the post-process … but I'm thinking of it like a rough mockup-like situation, where you might want to present your client a nice embossing of their future logo on their business card, letterhead or something like that. ;) I'm glad you like it. :) ronnyb
yakk
Just got it and I like it too :) Very clean, nicely done. Thanks for sharing Dennis Mr. Doodlezz 1 Quote OS X 10.12 - AP 1.6.6 - AD 1.

justwilliam
MrDoodlezz (or anyone else who knows), I have seen these and other 'styles' (as well as some nifty brushes) posted here; but exactly how do I bring these into Affinity Designer & Photo? Staff MEB Posted August 26, 2015 Staff Share Posted August 26, 2015 Hi justwilliam, Go to the Styles panel, click on the smal menu icon on the top right and select Import Styles Category. You will find the imported category in the dropdown on the top of the Styles panel. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
justwilliam
Did it. Played with it. Will definitely find uses for it. Many thanks MrDoodlezz for sharing this. And thank you, too, MEB for explaining to me how to import them. (now there are a couple of more styles which have been posted here that I must find again and get...) :) Mr. Doodlezz

Mr. Doodlezz
Hey justwilliam, you're welcome! @justwilliam, Take a look at this page. I've compiled some resources there. Wow … this is convenient, veeery nice MEB! And thanks for having me listed! MEB, maybe you can answer this question: I wonder if there’s a way to quickly remove layer styles in AP. I only managed to do this by either unchecking all of them manually or creating a new layer style without any attributes selected in the first place and click on that one every time I want the shapes to be plain original. A »Revert defaults« button like the one in AD would be nice. :) Or am I missing something here?

Maybe I can chime in here quickly … the Revert Defaults button is available in Affinity Photo as well … simply choose View > Customise Toolbar … and drag the buttons to the toolbar … :) Mr. Doodlezz and justwilliam
Mr. Doodlezz
Ah, nice! Thanks for pointing out that option, A_B_C! :) Strange I haven't thought of it, though I even recently customized the Toolbar … A_B_C
Staff MEB Posted August 27, 2015 Staff Share Posted August 27, 2015 @justwilliam, Lol Thanks ^_^ Glad you found it useful. @MrDoodlezz My pleasure! Those are great styles. Thank YOU for sharing them. It would be a waste if they become lost in the threads/forum... Mr. Doodlezz 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

There are two ways for changing the colour: With the Effects Palette active, click on the check box labelled »Colour Overlay«, change the colour. With the Layers Palette active, click on the little fx-icon and navigate to the check box labelled »Colour Overlay«, change the colour. Some additional tips: Light colours work better than dark colours hence the inner Inner Shadow that otherwise gets nearly unnoticeable. You can also give the colour a bit noise if that's something you want. Hope this little clip helps. Colour.mp4 Cheers MrDoodlezz
