Hi, i want to open images from lightroom (not lightrom classic!) in  affinity photo to edit the images.

I want to edit them directly from lightroom in affinity photo but i don't know how to send them from lightroom to affinity photo. I can't find settings for the external editor.

Thanks!

Here's a quick video I just put together showing how to setup an External Editor in Lightroom. I know you asked it not be LR Classic, but that's what I have, and IIRC, it's the same in subscription versions.

FIRST, Where did you purchase Affinity Photo? From MS Store, Apple, or directly from Serif/Affinity? This is important because, if you purchased from MS Store,or Apple, the App is in a "sandbox", and can not be easily accessed. If you purchased from Serif/Affinity, then the following should work. Also since you didn't specify, I'm making the assumption you're on Windows, not OS.

Here's what you do in LightRoom. (Windows).

  1. Go to the Edit menu, scroll down to Preferences
  2. In the Preferences Dialog Window that opens, go to the 3rd tab, External Editing.
  3. Go to the 2nd section of that tab, located about in the middle, Additional External Editor. First/Top section is always reserved for PhotoShop and can not be altered.
  4. To the Right side, press the Choose button. This will open Windows Explorer, where you can navigate to where Affinity Photo is installed.
  5. Locate the Photo.exe file and select it. Press the Select button. This will take you back to LR, Preferences, External Editor tab.
  6. Next set the parameters you want LR to use when creating the file to be passed to Affinity Photo. Then press OK.

Now you should be able to Right-click in LR to get a menu, and one of the options should show Edit in Photo, or Affinity Photo.

Thanks but with Lighroom this doesn't work

What do you mean? That is Lightroom that I used. What version of all of Adobe's confusing renaming conventions, of Lightroom are you using? Is it a ipad,/mobile, or desktop? Are you on Windows or Mac OS?

If your running a Mac, then instead of Edit Menu to locate the Preferences, you find it I think under the File menu? Anyway locate the Preferences for Lightroom. From there it should still be in the External Editor tab.

Here's a link to Lightroom Killer Tips on setting up External Editors.

That looks like it's a Cloud version. So what I posted wouldn't work, sorry. I'm not sure if it's even possible to setup external editors using that version. I got away from Adobe, after the first year they went cloud/subscription. I maintain the last perpetual version 6.
