Hi there,

I hope somebody can help me. I made a product-catalogue in Affinity Publisher for a client and for that I used some regular image-frames and some more interesting - I made a brush stroke and used it to insert an image. That worked just fine until I finished the last pages of the project and went back to one of my first pages: There were only the images in the normal frames visible, the others disappeared! When I look into the layers they are still there but the preview-image of the layer is empty. When I move the image out of my Pixel-Brush-Layer it appears again, but the brush stroke is still not visible.

When I zoom in some of the frames suddenly appear, some just appear in half but I can´t select them - and when I zoom out again the are gone just like before.

I´m a bit frustrated right now because I can´t figure it out and I´m afraid that my data is damaged...

I haven´t made and updates or changes that could have affected the first pages.

I use Affinity Publisher 1.8.5 on a Windows PC. Images are linked and it doesn´t make any difference if I embed them.

Many thanks from Germany!

Welcome to the forums Jessica! Could you upload an APublisher file (with images embedded) with a page where the images disappeared? Personally I have no idea what you were trying to achieve ;) so a file would really help.

I try to make it clearer: I made a pixel layer, made a brush stroke and put an image in there to use it as an image-frame. And all the images in those frames disappeared - but as a layer they are still there.

In the attachment I put an affinity-file with embedded images (I removed the text and replaced the images from my client due to a privacy-policy-contract) and an Example-Screenshot how it looked like... On the left page there is the normal image frame (no problems with that) and on the right page should be the brush-strokes with the image in it. I hope this will help to understand my problem.

Hmm, experimented a while on your document, but I am not able to tell you a solution or workaround. Sorry. Perhaps you should ask a moderator to look after your problem.

Can you tell me how I ask a moderator to look after this?

We try to monitor all threads on the forums and we reply to as many threads as require our attention!

You can send a private message to one of QA or Technical Support. Copy the link to your post into your message, so that they can find it at once.

Although this is an option, we much prefer if you wait a short while to see if a mod (like myself) replies to a topic before private messaging users who may not be a part of technical support or QA and may be unable to help :)

There's certainly something strange happing here that I've not seen before, I'll continue to test & investigate this document and will hopefully have an answer for you shortly!

No problem at all, many thanks for your file!

I've been 'pulling apart' the file to see if I can figure out why this has happened, or replicate it within a new document - however I'm unfortunately no closer to an answer at this time.

I can see that the Pixel layers (that you drew with a brush) are all corrupted, which is why when zooming in and out they are drawn differently, if you rasterise or colour pick from these areas you can also see new issues appear.

I will be logging your file with our developers for further investigation, as hopefully they will be able to replicate this issue, or determine the original cause for this - unfortunately all I can suggest in the meantime is to remove the 4 (Pixel) layers that were painted, and recreate these 4 layers from scratch - you should then find this issue no longer happens!

I hope this helps :)

Hi,

thanks for your time and patience!

To do all the work again is (and was) a work of days - I have nearly 70 pages with two, three or four pixel-layers... I have two weeks left until it has to go to printing and I hope your developers can find a solution that prevents me from doing it all again in my free time...

Thanks for letting me know and I'm certainly sorry to hear this!

Do you recall the last steps you took on this file before this issue appeared? Have you moved or saved the file to an external drive, or a Cloud service perhaps?

The more information you can provide regarding the file, the easier it will be for our developers :)

Referring to my last steps with this file: I have just duplicated some pages and inserted images before this problem appeared. The file haven´t been moved since I created it - also the linked images. I did edit two of the images in Affinity Photo, which were automatically updated in Affinity Publisher.

And my PC made a minor Windows update the day this issue occurred.

I encountered the same problem today. Has this issue been resolved? I'm on Affinity Publisher 2.0 as of last weekend... JessicaN's last comment applies to me too, except for the image editing in Photo, I didn't do that. Affected page also won't export to pdf.
