Paul Mudditt
These two images crash AP on HDR Merge during the tone mapping. It’s actually only a single image exported twice with boosted exposure. 2015 9.7” iPad Pro on IOS14.2 beta. EDIT: Performed the HDR Merge as a separate step instant crash with no bug report message. EDIT: Tested same on V1.8.6.198 and works fine doing the separate steps including Tone map. p_mac
I used 3 RAW Sony images thru the HDR Merge, but I unchecked the Tone Map, twice, and it worked perfectly. Then I ran 3 Sony RAW images thru the HDR Merge with the Tone Map on and it also worked perfectly. No crashes Interesting that the Tone Mapping functioned well, no transparent screens, even tried the gradient tool. But when I try to run a processed images thru Tone Map Persona am still getting transparent screens with nothing functioning. I noticed, Paul Mudditt that you are using jpegs, do you think that this is image type specific? iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (3rd generation) 1T, iPadOS 14.0.

AlainP
Just tried once more with two of my own raw images. As far as I know, and have checked, the latest non beta release is 14.0.1 I am running iPadOS 14.0.1 and using the latest beta release v1.9.0.199 on an iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (3rd generation), 1T. I have been able to run this process several times, to completion, noting however that the merging and tone mapping is very, very slow compared to the latest release version. Perhaps as my iPad Pro is the 1T version, could it be a memory issue. Edited September 30, 2020 by p_mac
AlainP
iPadOS version is 14.2 but I'm quite sure that when I installed it it was "beta 2". Reviews says it is the version that will replace 14.0.1. This is on an iPad Pro 12.9 2020. I have a generation 6 iPad on which I will try it if I can find the time. But it also has the same 14.2 beta OS. Affinity Photo beta is version 1.9.0.199 -- Window 11 - 32 gb - Intel I7 - 8700 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 -- iPad Pro 2020 - 12,9 - 256 gb - Apple Pencil 2 -- iPad 9th gen 256 gb - Apple Pencil
p_mac
Thanks for that AlainP, it now seems to be an issue with the OS beta you’re running. I am running AP beta but release version iPadOS 14.0.1, not beta and am having no issues with this topic. Guess the devs haven’t caught up yet with the OS beta 14.2. AlainP
I just create an HDR Merge using two copies of the same image after I made one of them lighter. In Photo Beta it crashes as soon as it get to the Tone maping step. If I uncheck "Tone map HDR image" it does not crash.. until I select the "Tone maping" Persona. Now.... I noticed that just opening any JPG file and selecting the Tone Map Persona creates an empty image... That does not happen in the Release Version. It seems to be a problem with the Tone maping. This is on a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 and iPadOS 14.2 beta 2. New test: No crash on my 6th gen iPad.... But selecting Tone Map Persona on any image displays an empty image.
