Publisher preflight check has flagged tons of words that it thinks are misspelled. They are not; for some reason Publisher is skipping the first letter and tagging the rest of the word as misspelled. (The author of the book is British; I'm ignoring preflight's tagging of British spellings.)

When I imported the text(.docx), Publisher did a very odd thing, de-italicizing the first letter of most italicized words and sometimes italicizing the first letter of the following word. Perhaps these two glitches are related?

I will wager that you have a Zero Width Space between the "S" and the "tanley". To check turn on the Text > Show Special Characters. This will show white space and other whatnots. These are probably coming in from the .docx document.

Tip: If like me you find the spell checking in the preflight annoying, for example there are far too many words listed as wrong if they are just archaic spelling, you can set up a No Spelling Profile by choosing Create preset and then Edit profile and turn off the things you don't want to be warned about.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

If it's a Zero Width Space problem, it doesn't show up with the other invisibles... Or am I just not seeing it? (It's flagged -tanley, -carlett, -ogether, and -ast.)

You are correct in that it is not a Zero Width Space problem. This is what it would look like ...

I am guessing there is some other reason and it'll be from the .docx document. A test would be to check and see if you (re)type Stanley somewhere in the document does it happen? If you could strip down a .docx document (say a few paragraphs which demonstrates the problem) and post it here it might be that one of the various eagle eyed members of the forum could spot the problem.

Does it happen with other fonts?
