Rounding the corners of a jpg

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Have been struggling with a wee problem so I am coming to you for help.

I have a jpg image that I want to round the corners on image1. When I select the cornering tool the options for the edge are grayed out. I tried going into Photo and using smooth rounded the corners fine however the background could be seen. image2. These images are to be used as backgrounds to add text to. Please help.

You can't directly round the corners of an image/pixel layer, however you could use an artboard to do so.

As for 'background is visible" ... Do you mean opaque white corners instead of transparent?

If yes, this is due to jpg format which doesn't save opacity/transparency values, png for example would keep the corners transparent.

Hi @Nevyn907 :)

Another option here is to clip the image into a rectangle, then use the Corner Tool to adjust the rectangle, as shown in the below recording! (This can be done in Photo or Designer :))

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

Use an artboard? How?

I actually want to curve the bottom of an image.

Curve the bottom of an image is a vague description.

Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Node, corner tools do nothing.

Not on a Pixel layer but you can do it starting with an Image Layer

In coreldraw I would just convert to curves and double click to add a node.

You can convert an Image Layer to a Curve and the Node & Corner Tools then become active

There are various way to first "convert" your Pixel layer to an Image Layer, from which you can then convert to curves just like Coreldraw
