Starting 2 days ago, every file I have saved using affinity photo (*.afphoto) does not load.  The icon I see is the Affinity Photo App icon.  When I rebuild files from scratch I don't see the same icon, but a view of the file with a fold over in the upper right corner.  Why is this.  It has happened with every file I have save and I have used Affinity Photo from the beginning.  I have attached a file so that you can see if you can load,

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Sorry to hear you're having trouble, but the file you uploaded is corrupted. It is filled entirely with binary 0s, and probably was not saved correctly.

Since you've started having trouble, where are you saving the files to?

Basically all my files are saved to my computer and backed up by dropbox.  I recreated the file I sent, but I found that all my image files in this one folder had a similar problem.  So I am deleting them, checking for viruses and starting over with what ever got corrupted.  I checked other files and they seem fine now.

Thanks for you prompt response.

You're welcome.

In case you're not aware, Serif recommends that you work with files that are stored on local drives, directly attached to your computer. Working from and/or saving to network attached drives can present problems.

Actually I save all my files locally and dropbox backs them up.  I found a lot more with the same issue, but all my new ones seem to work ok.  How do you propose backing up files?

Well, I don't use Dropbox as part of my backup strategy, and I can't comment on whether it's safe. Sorry.

I have some backups that are made automatically to a local network drive as files are changed or saved, but I also have backups that I make periodically of the entire system (local disks and network disks) when nothing else is active on the PC.

In a word, redundantly. IOW, I don't rely on any one backup method, particularly not an 'in the cloud' one like Dropbox. Because I am a Mac user I use Apple's Time Machine to backup automatically to two different local disks -- each hourly backup alternates between the two disks. I also periodically clone the startup disk to a third locally attached disk, one that is not powered up except when making the clone.
