Files are not saved on iPad / Affinity Designer

Recommended Posts

iPad Software: 13.7

Affinity Designer: 1.8.4.4.

Hi everyone,

did not find the topic in the Forums/FAQ If it is double - sorry for that.

Problem: I create infographics on the iPad with Affinity Designer and since two days my work is not saved.

I copied an infographics and created several new graphics in this document. As soon as I leave the document, the program shows me the correct graphic in the small program window, but as soon as I open the document, it jumps back to the original old graphic.
This has happened to me a few times now. I also saved the graphics and as soon as I open them, all progress is gone there too.

I checked the internet connection and also tried to copy the graphic again, no matter how I do it, the end result is always the same - all my work is gone.

Does anybody have an idea what this could be due to? Unfortunately, I can't work and do my jobs this way anymore.

If you switch applications without either manually Saving or returning to the Home Screen, you will eventually lose your work. Until you do either of these things, or auto save kicks in, your work is only held in ram (temporary storage).  iPads have limited ram and iOS will reallocate ram as needed to keep the app with current focus working,  This reallocation may call on ram being used to hold your affinity work, if so, it’s now released and assigned to the current app.

Solution, Save your work before switching apps. It might help to set auto save to a shorter timeframe. Default is 5 minutes (shows as 300 secs). Try 60 secs. 🙂

If you are saving and losing work perhaps attach a screen recording showing what is happening. Turn on a show touches first. 🙂

Hej DM1,

Thanks for your reply. I (try to) save my work in every possible way. I saved it many times manually during the work and on the home screen of the app as well. It is a new problem that the program does not save the work even when done manually. Attached a video to show what I am talking about.

It´s the same problem even when I wait a couple of minutes more after saving manually and with a very good internet connection.
