Argolich
Hello. I received the notification in the App Store of an update to Affinity photo and have tried multiple times to download and install it but it does not install. I get a red message next to the update link in the store that says "There was an error" and every time I go to open Affinity Photo it says version 1.3.4. I rebooted my machine and now the update option does not even show up...But when I click on my Purchased files Affinity Photo is at the top with the red notation "there was an error". Is anyone else seeing this and if so, do you know how to correct the issue? Thanks so much in advance!
Staff Callum Posted August 21, 2015 Staff Share Posted August 21, 2015 Hi Argolich, Welcome to the Forum :) Could you please try logging out of your App Store account and then log back into it as this sometimes fixes the issue for me. If that does not work you could try deleting the App from your Applications folder and then re-download it from the App Store. If this all fails you may need to contact Apple support regarding this issue to make sure it is not at their end. C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. Staff MEB Posted August 21, 2015 Staff Share Posted August 21, 2015 Hi Argolich, If what Callum suggested doesn't solve the issue do the following: Drag the Photo or Designer app from the Documents folder to the trash. Open the Terminal app. Copy and paste this command and then press Enter: open $TMPDIR/../C This will open a Finder window. Drag the "com.apple.appstore" folder that's inside there to the Trash. This folder is just a cache. It will be recreated as soon as you run the Mac Store app again. Run the Mac Store app and try to install Affinity Photo or Designer. If it still doesn't work, reboot your system first. Argolich
My thanks to both Callum and MEB. I followed both of your suggestions and ultimately something worked. I uninstalled, logged out and back into the app store, then follow your terminal app instructions before reinstalling Affinity photo. It updated to 1.3.5. Not sure exactly what the glitch was but it seemed to have been fixed so I can focus on learning to use the software. Again my thanks to you for sharing your know-how!! Simm
Following the suggestions of MEB (above), I was able to update my copy of Affinity Designer. So a big Thanks to him and this forum. Simm
