Designer 1.9.0.2, select same - fill color

Recommended Posts

thanx very much for adding this function (select same ...) I have downloaded the this beta and give it a try.

One of my frequent tasks is to change all white colors to a substitute color, eg K55. To do so I will have select all objects that are defined as white (CMYK 00 00 00 00) and change their value for K to 55.

I found that select select same - fill color with a white object selected already won't do the job correct. Only part of all the white objects are selected. There are other objects with the same CMYK attributes that won't be selected. Attached you may find my sample file.

Maybe this can be fixed easy?

Hi uhebeisen,

Is this similar to what you're getting? I had done Select Same on one of the stars and changed that to K55 - only the stars were getting changed, and none of the other elements were. I'll get this passed on!

Edit: Just to add it looks like the other objects have different HSL values which all give CMYK0,0,0,0 so I think that is what is causing this behaviour.

exactly, this is the behaviour. I have to say that the upper half of objects are copied over from a coleagues file (Affinity Designer for Windows) and I can not tell you about his document settings.

But if I open the example file in AI and doing a "select same" -> "fill color" then all the white objects would be selected.

I am repeating my comment from a different thread here as this is the same file and problem (great Decal sheet by the way)

"I tested by making some objects and colouring them white, some using the RGB colour pane sliders and some with the CMYK colour pane sliders. The two sets are all 255, 255, 255 and 0, 0, 0, 0 when I look at them but they are treated as two separate colours when I try and select same fill. So this has nothing to do with the copy from your colleague."

I would seriously suggest you use a Document Palette and name the colours you are using by making them Global Colours. That way you can do the search for the named colours and tweak the global colour. Plus your colleague could use the same palette of colours.

Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
