Nikos Doukas
Hello everyone, I am using Adobe Indesign to create a monthly magazine. I have downloaded Affinity Publisher and I tried the interface for about a week. The problem I have been facing is that I have to import about 60 different PDF files which are advertisements but when I’m trying to export the file for print, I get notified that fonts are missing. So I can either replace fonts or try to find the missing ones which is sometimes impossible. This does not happen in Adobe. Is there a way in affinity Publishing that we can overcome this obstacle? Is it something that I can do in order to export a PDF file for print without losing the fonts? Thanks in advance, Nikos
Dan C
Hi @Nikos Doukas, Welcome to the forums It sounds as though you're looking for 'PDF Passthrough' which unfortunately the Affinity apps do not currently support. This would allow for PDFs to be placed within Affinity, without the file being affected/converted to an Affinity format, and the embedded fonts would be retained, therefore these fonts would not be 'missing'. This is something that many users have requested and we hope to add this in a future update - although we have no timescale for this currently, my apologies! Paul98713986
So - if there is no 'PDF Passthrough' then Affinity is pretty much hopeless for magazine designers who are sent customer pdf files for use in the magazine. Please sort this out Affinity. From the tests I've done so far Affinity software could replace InDesign (and other Adobe s/w) for me. If I sound a little 'cross' it's because I'm at the end of yet another fruitless 'Chat' with Adobe about their marketing, prices and flexibility. Not Affinity's problem of course, and I have no doubt you've heard this howl before, but it IS a HUGE opportunity for you. I'm speaking as a veteran Adobe customer of 35 years.
