Pencil Tool - Use Fill, Close Shape

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Affinity Designer feels really slick and responsive.

I often use the pencil tool in my vector drawings and habe some suggestions and feature requests to make it imo better or give it more options for individual workflows.

1. Use Fill - The preview of the fill often blocks the view and makes it harder to draw.

Solution: While you drawing with "use fill", use similiar preview as drawing in path mode or same as drawing with just an outline.

Now I can use the path mode view or  the outline, but then its always extra steps to change between path mode view and normal mode view. Or select the drawn outline and change it to fill.

Would be really welcomed to draw with "use fill" without the extra steps, which makes it unecessary complicated. Maybe an option box where you can choose the preview mode you want while drawing with the pencil tool.

2. Close Shape - Its really hard to close the shapes with the pencil tool, most of the time I want it to close and it would require extra steps and tool change to accomplish that, which makes it complicated.

Solution: Give an option where you can choose to always close the path or the pixel/cm between two nodes it takes to close the path.

Thanks for reading and considering to add these features. I often use the pencil tool and affinity designer is so far the least bloated, most responsive program I used so far, would be nice to have quality of life.

Cheers.
