Differences between Photoshop PSD and Affinity PSD?

Recommended Posts

Hi there!
I don't know if this is a stupid question or not but:

Are there any differences between a PSD made in Photoshop and a PSD made in Affinity Designer?
I am asking, because i am currently looking for a 2D-Animation-Software (meshing and rigging) and i've tested a few with a built-in PSD-Import.

None of my PSDs out of Affinity seemed to work. A friend of mine made a PSD in Photoshop which was imported successfully.
Ofc i tried several export settings, but none seemed to work.

I am probably missing a tiny thing, maybe you guys can help me with it.

EDIT: I just realized that i (probably) need to rasterize the curves and the .psd can only be '1 layer deep' for the file to be readable.
I am not there yet, this is just what i noticed when opening the .psd in photopea.com.

ALSO:
Please make rasterizing of multiple layers possible without grouping them and having a single pixel layer.
This would be a huge QoL changer.

I tried to import it in Creature2D and Spine.
The Original PSD opens normally in AD and Photopea.

The project was made entirely out of Vectors and had several Artboards in it.
I exported only the relevant Artboard when exporting to .PSD but when i opened it in photopea it had all the other artboards in it, altough they were not visible and could only be seen as empty layers.

I've got no idea what a .PSD really is (just a file type or a container for several files) tbh. I've used my limited time to learn about the artistic stuff. I haven't touched the technical part of digital artistry yet.
