Importing Photoshop Text FX Styles into AP

Recommended Posts

I have many many text FX and layer styles created in Photoshop that I'd love to import and use in Photo. Problem: When I navigate to a target folder with the PS styles I want to import, all of them are greyed out and non-selectable. Is there a way to import and use already-created layer / text FX / styles from PS into AP? And: Is there a way to create a REAL DROP SHADOW effect in AP? No, the Outer Glow does not do the same thing as a genuine drop shadow capability … close, but no cigar. Thanks for any input regarding how to accomplish these goals.

You'll probably find that some will work when you get them imported, but some won't.

An importation method that might work, for the effects that are supported: Create a Photoshop document (.psd) that uses one of the effects. Open that in Photo. Select the object with the effect, and then create a Style from it.

Hello again … and no, I am still unable to import actual PS styles. Since the time of my original post, Affinity have intro'd V2 of Photo, which unfortunately will not comport nicely with my macOS 'Sierra' (10.12.6).

I have tried Walt's suggestion and, yes, it partially 'works', but there are still gaping holes left in the Satisfaction Quotient. Perhaps when I decide to (ahem) 'upgrade' my system and move up to V2, there will be a Happy Little Surprise awaiting me. That day, however, is still in future. In the interim, I must therefore spin my wheels and (when necessary) use PS to achieve the 'look' I want rather than the 'look' imposed on my text by a lack of 1:1 equivalence. That being said, I still prefer Photo to PS.
