TOC making two lines for every chapter.

You can get close:

1. Use a line break after the chapter number on the document page, then
2. Use a character style to change the appearance of the second line.

That way both lines are part of the same heading. When creating the TOC there's an option to remove line breaks, which will put both the "Chapter 1" and the chapter title text on the same line in the TOC.

However, as far as I know you cannot get the ":" between them, unless you actually put it on the page or edit the TOC manually. [Edit: See below for a variant that lets you have an invisible ":" on the document page that will show up in the TOC.]

Also, here's an approach that lets you have the ":" in the TOC. On page 3 (Chapter 2) I put an "invisible" colon. The title is "Chapter 2:" but in the Character panel I set the color of the ":" to none. (You could also use the Context Toolbar, of course.)

I'm not sure who first mentioned that technique, that I had forgotten when composing the earlier post.
